Overload — finish the task or get passed the bomb
What is Overload?
Overload is a fast hot-potato party game built around a hidden countdown. One player starts OVERLOADED — their phone glows red and shows a quick prompt like 'Name three sports.' Answer it out loud, then tap any other player to pass the bomb. They get a fresh prompt. Repeat.
There's a hidden timer running the whole time. Nobody sees it. Whoever's holding the bomb when it hits zero — eliminated. New round. Last player standing wins.
How to play
- 1One player starts as OVERLOADED — their phone turns red and shows a prompt. Read it out loud. The group decides if your answer is good enough.
- 2Tap any other player to pass the bomb. Their phone lights up red with a fresh prompt. They answer, they pass.
- 3A hidden timer is running. Nobody sees it. Whoever's holding the bomb at zero is eliminated. Play continues until one player is left.
FAQ
How many players for Overload?
Two to ten. The chaos peaks at six to eight — enough targets to pass to, few enough that prompts come back around.
How long is a round?
Around five minutes. The hidden timer settings vary by difficulty (Quick, Standard, Long), but no single round drags.
What kind of prompts come up?
Quick categorical bursts — 'Name three sports', 'Three words that rhyme with cat', 'Three things in a kitchen.' Fast enough that hesitating costs you the bomb.
